Sensing Places Interactive contributed concepts, designs, and working interactive media for the many immersive experiences in the resort. We joined Gehry Partners’ team and presented several interactives to the Government of Singapore.
Case Study
The Singaporean 121-acre Resorts World Sentosa was created in response to the popularity of gaming in Asia, highlighted by the explosive growth in Macau. To stay profitable, the casino also needed to appeal as a family destination with amenities like amusement parks, food and beverage outlets, retail shopping, and entertainment.
Gehry Partners reached out to Sensing Places Interactive to research innovative technology solutions for the various areas of the resort and museum. Sensing Places Interactive joined Gehry Partners’ design team and management teams from developers Capitaland (Singapore) and
Kerzner International (Bahamas) to collaboratively create concepts and renders for the space.
Sensing Places Interactive planned and designed numerous technology systems and interactives for the resort, including a virtual fish tank for the proposed record-breaking aquarium. We prototyped a virtual currency exchanged via RFID bracelets to help visitors access services offered across the large surface of the resort. We set up a test environment in Gehry’s offices with tracking sensors that activated the virtual fish ecosystem to offer architects a hands-on experience of the interactives during the design phase.
